How we rank gear — and what still needs checking
“Best in slot” depends on talents, spell choices, fights, available content and special effects. This page is a shortlist of candidates, not a simulated optimum or a complete equipped set. We independently score the base stats in the dated client mirror. Competitors’ rankings and guide text are not used.
- Catalog scope: 1990 named uncommon-to-epic armor and weapon records, item levels 10–45, wear levels up to 30, with a named drop, quest, craft or vendor source. Random suffix bonuses, race-restricted and reputation-gated items, unknown sources, enchants, set bonuses and procs are not modeled. This is not every possible item.
- Weapon and armor proficiency, explicit class restrictions and wear level are checked. “Two-hand alternative” replaces main hand plus off hand; it is not an extra slot. Ring and trinket lists are options for two slots, not a promise that two copies may be equipped.
- Quest rewards above your selected quest level are conservatively hidden. A quest’s displayed level is not its verified minimum; prerequisites, faction access and availability still need checking. Empty faction data in new quests is labeled unverified.
- ForeverDB report means the mirror reports a Forever source; we have not personally tested that drop. Client recipe confirms a recipe record, not that its trainer, materials or skill requirement are available. Classic location is inherited data that needs checking in Forever.
- No drop rate or guaranteed farming time is asserted. Boss names and dungeon zones are starting points; verify current entry requirements, reward choices and tooltips using the linked sources.
- Plan scores compare items within a slot and profile. They do not measure DPS, healing per second or tank survivability. A special effect can make the displayed order wrong.
